The DeWitt Oak Hill is a unique pet-friendly guest house, mixing eclectic style and plush comfort. It has been designed for a clientele that loves to be surrounded by beautiful pieces, but still wants to kick back and relax.
Lounge in the two-story great room, where a beautiful Hollywood Regency curved velvet sofa holds court, a baby grand piano awaits a player, a warm and cozy fireplace and a record player is ready for you to enjoy the crackly sounds of old records (and dance). A selection of art books and design magazines are available to peruse. Or just lie back and listen to the sounds of the Catskill Creek only feet away.
Situated right on the banks of The Catskill Creek, our garden has multiple seating areas and fireplaces as well as creek access to cool off your toes, sunbathe or read a book laying on one of the huge rocks as the water flows past you.
Each bedroom is styled by our wildly talented guest curators/friends, so each room gives you an entirely different experience. And of course each time you come they will all be a little different. Why?
Because almost every piece of furnishings and accessories is a part of our vintage business, French
& Scouser and is available for purchase. One of the special things about The DeWitt Oak Hill is that it is constantly evolving.
In fact, our guests are a vital part of our ongoing transformation. At the end of the day, it is about the guest. If we make people feel like they are hanging out at a friends fabulously comfy country house, then
we've done our job.
Our space is available for events, meetings, photo-shoots and location rentals. Pop-up dinners with guest chefs, musical events and immersive weekends will also be on the roster. Keep an eye out on our calendar of events.
To tell you a little about us... We are Dorothée and Diane (French & Scouser), the French (Paris) and English (Liverpool) proprietors of The DeWitt. Our love for country living, beautiful design and architecture, and creating unique and memorable experiences, has resulted in the rebirth of The DeWitt Oak Hill.
Both of us left the world of media, magazine and book publishing behind to fulfill a lifelong dream of opening an inn. We have travelled widely, but right now, the Catskill mountains seem just about as perfect a place as any to hang our respective hats.
We are dog (animal) lovers! Dorothée has a Boxer named Romeo and a mad mutt named Toby. Diane has two Brussels Griffons, Dolly and Lola. They all think that they are true owners of The DeWitt, and,
at any given time, one or more of them may be around to welcome or splash in the creek with you.
